Former Van Wert resident Ivan M. Walters, 84, Decatur, Ind., died at 10:20 a.m. April 19, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Van Wert to Stanley and Frieda Schaadt Walters. On Nov. 7, 1948, he married Mary Bess Weyant, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dean (Sandy) Walters, Key West, Fla.; a daughter, Susan (Tom) Bielamowicz, Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Dale Walters, North Canton; two sisters-in-law, Elnora (Robert) Cisco, St. Marys, and Vivian Harmon, St. Marys; and two grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Donald Walters and Ned Walters; two sisters, Juanita Wells and Marcille Hill; and a brother-in-law, James Weyant.

He was self employed. He was a member of Portland Elks and past president of the Portland Chamber of Commerce.

Service is 2 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Swamp College Cemetery.
