Nearly 1,000 pieces of farm equipment sold

COLDWATER - An abundance of Carhartt jackets and pickup trucks crowded Cavalier Stadium in Coldwater on Saturday as bidders from across the state gathered for the 36th annual Coldwater Young Farmers consignment auction.
Lead auctioneer Rick Uhlenhake was pleased to see the largest turnout to date. He estimated more than 1,500 attendees, saying organizers ran out of bidding tickets. [More]

ST. MARYS - Minster started the third and fourth quarters strong to pull away for a 58-40 win over St. Marys on Saturday night at Murotech Court.
It was tight early on between the two Auglaize County rivals. The first quarter featured three lead changes, followed by five more in the final four minutes of the second quarter before Ethan Wolf hit a jumper with 65 seconds left before halftime that put Minster in front 22-21. [More]

MINSTER - Librarian Mary Knapke was honored Saturday night by the Minster Civic Association as its 2012 Citizen of the Year. She received an engraved plaque and standing ovation during the banquet at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
ST. MARYS - A 63-year-old Kentucky man died at a local hospital Sunday night after he was found lying next to his pickup truck at a rest area on U.S. 33.
NEW BREMEN - The New Bremen boys basketball team squandered a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter before gathering themselves down the stretch to fend off the Celina Bulldogs 66-60 on Saturday night in a battle between two of the hottest teams in the Grand Lake area.
