Martha Clara Pierce
Martha Clara Pierce, 101, Vandalia, passed away July 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born Oct. 28, 1911, in St. Anthony, to Joseph and Katherine Wendel Siegrist.
Survivors are her sister-in-law, Dorothy Siegrist; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; other relatives and friends; and her loving daily caregivers, Nancy Freitas, Judy Fultz, Pat Buckner, Kristen Marshall and Mary and Mike Blakesly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her son, Barry; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Martha was a longtime member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Rev. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are by Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home in Vandalia.
