Southerly winds will increase today ahead of an approaching cold front. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph can be expected with gusts of 35 to 45 mph at times this afternoon. Be sure to secure outdoor objects.

Susie Mortenson
Susie Mortenson, 93, entered eternal life on Dec. 25, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in North Augusta, S.C.
She was born Aug. 3, 1920, in New Kensington, Pa. to George France West and Phoebe Hazel Schall West.
Surviving are four children, Larry Wittenmyer and Kathy Linder Kraeling, both of Aiken, Nancy Wittenmyer Barger, Denver, Colo., and Krisanne Linder Hall, Celina; and seven grandchildren, Mark Kraeling, Melbourne, Fla., Mollie Beth Kraeling Byrne, Clark, N.J., Bill Wittenmyer, Santa Ana, Calif., Robert Wittenmyer, Sydney, Australia, Jonathan Michael Hall, Chesterfield, Va., Nicholas Hall, Hilliard, and Andrew Hall, New Albany.
Deceased are her sister, Kathryn West McCullough; her second husband, William F. Wittenmyer, and her third husband, John Mortenson.
She grew up in Templeton, Pa. and graduated in 1938 from Kittanning High School in Kittanning, Pa. She graduated from Findlay College in 1950. She received a master of arts degree in English from Bowling Green State University in 1961. She had a long career of teaching English literature and writing on the secondary and college levels. She moved to Aiken in July 2013.
She was a member of the College First Church of God, where she had served as deaconess and elder. She was also a member of Chapter DN of P.E.O, Eastern Star, and the Retired Teachers' Association. She was a former member of AAUW and of Winebrenner Village Board of Trustees, all in Findlay.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at College First Church, Findlay, with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay.
Calling is 1-4 p.m. Jan. 12 at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.
