An arctic cold front will move quickly east across the region through daybreak. This will usher in a much colder airmass with temperatures quickly falling below freezing.
Snow showers can be expected this morning with snow accumulations of a half inch or less possible. This will combine with the falling temperatures to produce slick spots on untreated roadways. In addition, brisk west winds will gust to 25 to 35 mph at times this morning.
The morning commute will be affected by these conditions. Please allow for some extra time to reach your destination. Be prepared for slick spots, especially on bridges an overpasses.

Josephine Muhlenkamp
Josephine J. Muhlenkamp, 82, Rockford, died at 8:50 a.m. May 8, 2014, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
She was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Rockford, to Wesley and Ica Matthews Custer. On April 19, 1952, she married Robert Muhlenkamp, who passed away June 5, 2011.
Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Jennifer (Rich) Miller, Rockford, Ginger (Doug) Lehman, Celina, Michael (Angela) Muhlenkamp, Pacifica, Calif., Gloria (Craig) Valentine, Celina, and Scott (Lisa) Muhlenkamp, Celina; two sisters, Bonnie (Bill) Ehrsam, Monroe, Ind., and Bonita (Lester) Myers, Convoy; seven grandchildren, Erik and Shannon Miesse, Kirk and Amy Lehman, Gabe and Amy Lehman, Sarah Valentine, Gina Valentine, Drew Valentine and Denise Ware; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a granddaughter, Kati Lehman.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Josephine to the American Heart Association.
