Betty Ann Kable Petrie, 86, Celina, died peacefully at home on Dec. 23, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 10, 1928, in Rockford, to Rudy and Neva Buckey Kable. On Aug. 26, 1952, she married D. Wayne Petrie, who died May 4, 1998.

Surviving are five children, Kim (David) Jeffery, Girard, Penn., Clark (LuAnne) Petrie, Colts Neck, N.J., Eric (Mary Schulz) Petrie, Lansing, Mich., Brett (Lynette) Petrie, Austin, Texas, and Leigh (Gerry) Limpic, San Diego, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a cousin, Dola Smith; a sister-in-law, Micheline Petrie; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Also deceased is a brother, Bruce Kable.

She was a 1946 graduate of Celina High School and briefly worked for the Celina Mutual Insurance Company. She became a licensed pilot and owned her own plane before she had a car. After her marriage, she and her family lived in Arizona, Illinois, New York, California and Nevada. After her husband's death in 1998, she moved back to Celina.

She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family and the St. John Lutheran Church, Celina. She helped with Bible studies, visitation and the prayer chain. She enjoyed counted cross stitch needlework and created elaborate gifts for her family and friends.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

Calling is 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
