Daniel Lukac
Daniel C. Lukac, Jr., 92, of Saint Marys, and formerly of Canal Fulton, Ohio, died 9:05 A.M. Sunday, November 13, 2016, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
He was born February 24, 1924, in Lakewood, Ohio, the son of Dano and Katarina (Vavrik) Lukac.
He is survived by his children: Terry (Anita) Lukac of New Knoxville, Ohio; Teresa (Kerry) Roode of Saint Marys; Daniel (Linda) Lukac of Oxford, Ohio; Kathy (Darl) Bishir of Saint Marys. He is survived his step-children: John Izad of Barberton, Ohio; Nader Izad of Barberton. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ben Roode; Chris Roode; Bill (Kim) Roode; Daniel (Stephanie) Lukac; Jonathan Lukac; Natalie Lukac; Samantha Bishir; Julia Izad; Dylan Koenig; Dakota Koenig.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his siblings: Marta Lukac; Estera Lukac; Dano Lukac; Stefan Lukac; by his wives, Madonna Adams and Marilyn Raben; by a granddaughter, Kathryn Bishir.
Daniel attended John Marshall High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII. He earned the Purple Heart Medal.
He retired as a US government inspector at the Goodyear Saint Marys Company Plant. He later worked as a custodian at New Bremen High School and the Cheryl Ann School in Celina.
He was a former member of Saint John Lutheran Church in Massillon, and a member of the VFW in Canal Fulton. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club, and the Purple Heart Society. He enjoyed woodcarving, trains, and collecting coins and stamps.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 18, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant. Military burial rites will be held 12:00 noon Monday, November 21, 2016, at Dayton National Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, where memorial gifts may be given to either Zion Lutheran Church or the Auglaize County Humane Society.
