Norma Middendorf
Norma M. (Schulze) Middendorf, age 78, of Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
She was born March 11, 1938, in Newport, Ohio, to the late Robert and Helen (Schlater) Schulze. On May 22, 1957, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Newport, Norma married Charles A. "Carl" Middendorf who preceded her in death on December 11, 2008.
Surviving are eight children: Charles J. "Chuck" & Janet Middendorf of Fort Loramie, Kelly & Thomas Schulze of New Bremen, Kevin & Paula Middendorf of Gibson City, IL, Kathleen & Randy May of Fort Loramie, Theresa & John Bartok of Worthington, Mitchell & Carrie Middendorf of Fort Loramie, Maria & Mike York of Russia, and Andrew & Jennifer Middendorf of Plain City; thirty grandchildren and one deceased: Michelle (dec.), Brett (Lindsay) and Brad (Rachel) Middendorf, Krista (Brandon) Trigg, Kurtis Milligan, Danielle (Patrick) Kirkland, Travis (Stacy) Milligan, Kaleena, Lauren and Jordann Middendorf, Alex & Lauren DuQuette, Julie, Erica and Hannah May, John C., Keegan and Kyle Bartok, Jared, Trevor, Cameo and Londyn Middendorf, Michael, Jessica, Samuel, Jenna, Faith and Sophia York, Jayme Baugher, Abigail and Ava Middendorf; eleven great-grandchildren: Kyla, Kara, Kendra, Elliot, Carter and Carson Milligan, Carmela and Claire Kirkland, Isaac, Elliott, Oliver and Leah Middendorf; three siblings: Ralph & Rita Schulze of Russia, Luella Albers of Fort Loramie and Dianne & Earl Winner of Minster; sisters & brothers-in-law: Mary Lou Schulze of Russia, Gene Baltes of Tiffin, Richard Frantz of Versailles and Richard and Max Middendorf of Fort Loramie along with numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Clarence, Helen & Betty Schulze, Vera & Jack Bemus, Urban & Thelma and Albert Schulze, Hilda & James Battson, Paul & Gertrude Schulze, Mary & Lowell Magoteaux, Betty Baltes, Helen Frantz and brothers & sisters-in-law: Kenneth Meyer, Ronald "Pete" Albers and Erma Middendorf.
A 1956 graduate of Fort Loramie High School, Norma was a dedicated homemaker and for many years had been a Shelby County Board of Elections worker.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she taught CCD for numerous years, served on the Respect Life Committee, and had been an RCIA instructor. She was also past president of both, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and Shelby County Right to Life.
Norma loved to be with her family, and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed architectural drawing and design.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, November 21, 2016, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
