Roman A. Buening
Roman A. Buening age 90 of Maria Stein, Ohio passed away at 11:50 AM Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Elmwood of New Bremen.
He was born on September 4, 1927 in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Bernard & Julianna (Bruggeman) Buening. He married Norma F. Puthoff on September 1, 1951, at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2016.
He is also survived by children: John & Barb Buening, Circleville, Ruth & Virg Kremer, Chickasaw, Marge & Keith Stucke, North Star, Irene Kleinhenz, Mary Jo & Jeff Bruns, Doris Jean "Dee Dee" & Don Bender, all of St. Henry, Fred & Brenda Buening, Maria Stein, 27 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, sisters, Marita & Tony Grilliot, Celina, Mary & Robert Demange, Ansonia, in-laws Dorothy Buening and Jane Buening, Coldwater, Juanita Buening, St. Henry, Imelda Puthoff, Chickasaw and Roseann Puthoff, Minster.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law Nick Kleinhenz, grandchildren: Julie Kremer and Dale Bruns, brothers & sisters: Ernie Buening, Urban & Rita Buening, Greg & Helen Buening, Albert Buening, Paul Buening, Louis Buening & Clarence Buening, parents-in-law: Joseph & Regina (Rolfes) Puthoff, in-laws: Lawrence Puthoff, Edwin & Alma Puthoff, Leander Puthoff, Alvin Puthoff, Lauretta & Herman Bergman, and infant twin to wife, Norma, Velma Puthoff.
Roman was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, Coldwater Eagles, Chickasaw VFW. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII, in 2016 he flew on the Honor's Flight to Washington DC. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was a former self-employed truck driver, farmer and milk hauler. Roman enjoyed bowling and everyone that knew him knew his ornery spirit and that he never met a stranger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, Ohio with Rev. Tom Brenberger celebrant.
Burial with full military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-St. Henry on Sunday, April 8, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and on Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
