Rose Kunkler
Rose "Evelyn" Kunkler, age 90, of New Weston, Ohio, died on September 1, 2018, at her home surrounded by her daughters. She was born February 15, 1928, in Osgood, OH, to the late August and Emma (Brandewie) Bergman. On April 27, 1948, she married the late Frederick Kunkler, who passed March 5, 1997.
Her family includes her six daughters, Barbara (Robert) Caruso of Troy, OH, Kathleen (William) Schulten of Sidney, OH, Cheryl (Dave, dec.) Hein of New Weston, OH, Diane (Gary "Spark") Wourms of St. Henry, OH, Donna Wendel of Coldwater, OH, and Joyce (Daniel) Hein of New Weston, OH; 17 Grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren; 5 Step Great Grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ann Bergman of McCartyville, OH and Barbara Bergman Winner of Osgood, OH; and in-laws, Dorothy Schott of Fort Wayne, IN, Ralph Kunkler of Carthagena, OH, Henry (Ruth) Kunkler of Burkettsville, OH, Virginia Heitkamp of Celina, OH, Herbert Siefring of Coldwater, OH, and Jo Ann Kunkler of Carthagena, OH.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dave Hein; siblings, Herbert (Velma) Bergman, Verena (Vitales) Grillot, Lester (Wilma) Bergman, Arthur Bergman, and Virgil Bergman; in-laws, Theodore (Martha) Kunkler, Rosemary Olson, Robert Schott, Stella Siefring, Florian Heitkamp, and Donald Kunkler; and a special friend, Herbert Tobe.
Evelyn was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 345 and Daughters of Isabella Circle 810, both of Fort Recovery. She was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio and its Ladies Sodality. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known for being the backbone of her family and was always around for each and everyone of them. She loved to provide for her family by co-managing the family farm, gardening and canning. Bowling became a hobby throughout her life, however, in later years you would find her sewing and playing cards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, September 6, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio, Fr. Matthew Feist officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg, Ohio.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Thursday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. A Daughters of Isabella prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
