New winner expected

CELINA - The 2018 Grand Lake Marathon doesn't have any major changes to the course or event structure.
What will change this year, however, is the race champion.
Two-time winners Jason Barhorst and Justin Gillette aren't signed up to compete, so barring any last-minute registrations, it looks like a safe bet that a new winner will emerge. [More]
Cavs close out Bulldogs in fourth set

CELINA - Celina coach Amy Sutter wants to see her team perfect the art of finishing sets.
Nikki Etzler's Coldwater Cavaliers were a little better in that department on Tuesday.
Ball State commit Lauren Gilliland had a match-high 18 kills to help Coldwater defeat Celina 3-1 (25-17, 25-10, 15-25, 25-21) at the Intermediate School. The fourth set was tied 11 times, but the Cavs ended the match with a 7-3 run to improve to 11-5 on the season. [More]

CELINA - Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey is sounding the alarm on exploding medical expenses incurred by county jail inmates
According to figures presented to county commissioners on Tuesday afternoon, medical expenses have ballooned from $90,356 in 2014 to $145,062 in 2017.

MENDON - Foundation construction for the new water tower is scheduled to take place this fall, Craig Knapke of Access Engineering said.
Knapke was on hand to update village council members at their regular meeting on Tuesday. He said the tower itself will be built during the winter.

CELINA - For the first 59 minutes, Celina and Wapakoneta were engaged in a defensive battle on the soccer field.
