Paul Rizor
Paul DaPore Rizor 67, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Paul was born on Friday, July 6, 1951 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Paul Edwin Rizor & Barbara Ellen (DaPore) Rizor-Evans. On November 23, 1990, he married Brenda (Homan) Rizor, who survives in Lima, Ohio.
Paul was a graduate of Shawnee High School in 1969, Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1973, and Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in 1976. He was a member and past president of the Allen County Bar Association and a member of the Ohio Bar Association. Paul served as an attorney for ARC and served as a UAW attorney. He was also an Assistant to the Ohio Attorney General. Paul was in private practice for 30 years in Lima, Ohio, initially with Navarre, Rizor, and DaPore, and later with Rizor, Minnard, and Rizor. He was a member of Encore Theater's Amil Tellers and served on the board as well as past president of Encore Theater's Amil Tellers. He acted, directed, produced, and designed theatrical sets for a period spanning 49 years at the theater. Paul was one of the founding members of Town Square Music Company in Lima. He was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima, and is a current member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima, where he was a past member of their Visitation Sunday committees and a lector.
He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was a jovial grandpa who loved letting his grandchildren climb all over him. Paul was a fly fisherman who particularly enjoyed the Au Sable River near Grayling, Michigan as well as Montana and Alaska. He loved blues music, and was overly brilliant and generous, helping so many people in his practice and personal life. He was a mentor to young people. He was known to friends as Chef Paul for his love of cooking and ability to identify the ingredients in most any restaurant Chef's dish and replicate it at home. He looked forward to every Thursday morning breakfast with his prayer buddies.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, daughters Ellissa Rizor of Lima, and Elayna (Elijah) Keating of New Albany, OH, grandchildren Eliana and Elliott, in-laws Keith (Sue) Homan of Celina, OH, Linda (Dave) Vogel of St. Mary's, OH, and Craig (Amy) Homan, of Goodyear, AZ, 8 nieces and nephews, and 9 great nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Clyde Evans, and brothers Matthew Rizor and Brad Rizor.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 2-7:30p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, with a wake service following at 7:30p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lima, with visiting time from 9-10a.m. at the church. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
