Jack Clontz
Jack Clontz, 92, of Celina, Ohio and formerly of Estero, Florida and the West Chester, Ohio area, left this world at 5:00 PM April 28th, 2019 at the Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Facility in Rockford, Ohio.
Jack was born and raised in Mt Vernon, Kentucky by his parents Robert & Mattie (Williams) Clontz.
One of the last of the "Greatest Generation" he served in the Army in World War II being deployed in Nagasaki, Japan shortly after the dropping of the Atomic Bomb. He again was deployed in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor (V) for single handedly saving his entire platoon. He refused the Purple Heart on at least two occasions.
In 1952, he was discharged and came home to marry the girl who grew up next door Sherry Ervin. They were married for 67 years.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved daughter: Patricia Diane and by grandchildren: Ricky, Charlie and Mary Price.
He is survived by his devoted wife Sherry, sons: Lawrence and Ricky; brother: Billy; grandchildren: Gavin and Larry Clontz, Sherry Price & great grandchild: Canaan Clontz.
As per Jacks wishes there will be no service or memorial service. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
