7th fatal accident this year

From staff reports
MARIA STEIN - Mercer County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an incident that left a Maria Stein pedestrian dead early Saturday morning.
Deputies responded to Fort Recovery-Minster Road east of State Route 716 at about 4:16 a.m., according to a news release. An initial investigation revealed Adam Franck, 20, Maria Stein, had reportedly been lying near the south edge of Fort Recovery-Minster Road for an unknown reason. John Hilgeford, 52, Maria Stein, was driving a 2002 Ford van eastbound when he struck Franck and dragged him along the road.
Franck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Osgood Fire Department and a rescue squad from St. Henry. The crash remains under investigation. No further details were available at press time.
The incident was the seventh fatal traffic accident in Mercer County this year, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol data.
