Ernest Hartings
Ernest H. Hartings, age 93, of Coldwater, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, April 1, 2020, at Versailles Health Care.
He was born October 6, 1926 in Cranberry to the late Joseph & Mary (Evers) Hartings. On October 21, 1950 he married Alfrieda (Wuebker) and she survives in Coldwater.
Also surviving are his children, Connie & Bob Homan of St. Henry, Ron & Viv Hartings of Maria Stein, Jack & JoAnn Hartings of Coldwater, Steve & Karen Hartings of Dayton, Gary & Carol Hartings of Maria Stein and Douglas & Shelly Hartings of Maria Stein; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings and in-laws, Pat Broerman of New Bremen, Betty & Jack Romer of St. Henry, Linus & Carol Hartings of Coldwater, and Myron & Patty Hartings of Mendon.
Ernie is preceded in death by a grandson Brad Hartings; siblings and in-laws, Evelyn & Louis Bertke, Thelma & Lawrence Broerman, Alfred Broerman, Lester & Dolores Hartings, Virginia Hartings, Virgil Hartings, Norma & Jerry Heuker, Mildred & Lawrence Dues, Vic & Martha Wuebker, Ralph & Irma Wuebker and Sr. Dolores Marie Wuebker.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Coldwater and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Cassella, where he was custodian for 50 years. He was also a member of the men's sodality of the church, Catholic Knights of America in Cassella, and the Coldwater Eagles.
Ernie was a former Marion Local school board member, he retired from the former New Idea plant in Coldwater after 43 years and he worked many other jobs throughout his life.
Due to COVID-19 a private family Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater with live stream at http://www.coldwatercluster.org/node/29. Burial will follow in Nativity Cemetery, Cassella.
