David Pottkotter
David L. "Heavy Duty" Pottkotter, age 69, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on December 13, 2020 at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio. He was born July 17, 1951, in Coldwater, OH, to the late Jerome and Rita (May) Pottkotter.
Surviving are his nine brothers and sisters, Gary "Pete" & Norma Pottkotter of Fort Recovery, OH, Nancy Mueller of Minster, OH, Diann & John Will, Deb & Joe Thobe, Karl Pottkotter, Becky & Jerry Bihn, Alan & Chris Pottkotter, Les & Marilyn Pottkotter and Roy & Kim Pottkotter, all Fort Recovery, OH; forty nieces and nephews and eighty-eight great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, preceding him in death are his brother-in-law, Fred Mueller, sister-in-law, Deb Pottkotter and great nephew, Damon Klenke.
Dave was a 1969 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. He was previously employed at the former New Idea, Coldwater, and Crown Equipment. He then became part owner of Three Way Machine of Maria Stein until retirement.
Dave was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Men's Auxiliary and the Progressive Sportsman Club, both of Fort Recovery, the Wendelin Sports Club, Wendelin, and a lifelong NRA member. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Men's Society, St. Joe, OH.
Dave had a passion for farming and especially enjoyed Saturday afternoons socializing in the shop with relatives and friends. He also enjoyed fishing. He was known as quite the conversationalist where ever he went, and jokingly considered himself a trivia specialist.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery. All CDC guidelines will be followed during the mass which will be live streamed at www.fortrecoverycatholics.org/streamspot/. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, St. Joe.
Calling is 4:00 pm-7:00 pm Tuesday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Wednesday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. Masks are required to be worn during the visitation and CDC guidelines will be followed.
