Jack Fickert
Jack L. Fickert, age 81, of Celina, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Kindred Hospital/Mercy Health in Lima. He succumbed to injuries he had sustained in a traffic accident in August. Jack was born December 11, 1939, in Mercer County, to Levi L. & Elsie L. (Kanorr) Fickert. On March 3, 1962, he married Virginia L. Woods, who preceded him in death February 17, 2008.
Jack is survived by three sons and a daughter: Jim (Connie) Woods of Lake Wales, Florida, Steve Koesters of Celina, Tim (Janet) Fickert of Fort Loramie, and Chris Godwin of Celina, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother and two sisters: Jerry Fickert of Lima, Janet (Leroy) Hoaglin of Van Wert, and Cheryl (Carl) Jenkins of Homosassa Springs, Florida, brothers & sisters-in-
law: Mary Fickert of Celina, Bill (Jane) Woods of St. Henry, and Pam (Henry) Billerman, Rick (Rita) Woods, and Vina Woods, all of Celina, and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Ellis, brother, Don Fickert, and brothers & sisters-in-law: Ernie Woods, Gerald "Buss" Woods, Charley Woods, Phyllis Jean (Frank "Dino") Dunno, and Jackie (Dick) Feierstein.
Jack had attended Celina High School. He worked as an auxiliary police officer from 1965-1969. In June of 1969, Jack was hired as a full-time officer by the Celina Police Department, where he
retired after 29 years of service.
Favorite pastimes of his were going to auctions, and working on drag race cars. Jack enjoyed watching old black & white Westerns on TV, and listening to Country-Western music, especially George Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 18, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Randy Christian, officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling Hours are 1:00 - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 17, and an hour prior to Services on Friday, at the Funeral Home.
Those attending are required to wear masks, practice social distancing as much as possible, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines established by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
