Official says items pose no danger; pilot is out of the hospital

MONTEZUMA - Plane fuel and chemicals that spilled from a downed crop duster in May are contained in a tank, pile of dirt and absorption booms lying on county land and are expected to be removed within a month, a county official said.
"We have been continually working on this. We're hoping to have this concluded very soon," said Mike Robbins, director of the Mercer County Emergency Management Agency. [More]

ST. MARYS - Independent candidates Kathy Fleagle and Frank D. Thomas have filed to run for treasurer of the city of St. Marys after incumbent Dennis Pfeffenberger, who has served since 2013, did not file to run for re-election.
WAPAKONETA - Two new deaths and 37 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Auglaize County since Tuesday, according to Friday's county health department news release, raising the cumulative death toll to 73 and number of cases to 4,699.
Tama Road between State Route 118 and Now Road in Hopewell Township will close for a bridge replacement on Oct. 26, according to a news release from the Mercer County Engineer's Office.
