Urban Clune
Urban L. Clune, age 79 of St. Henry, passed away surrounded by his family at 5:53 pm, Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Everheart Hospice (Wayne Hospital) in Greenville after 5 grueling weeks in Miami Valley Hospital ICU following a farming accident.
He was born July 28, 1942 in St. Henry to the late Herbert & Martha (Broerman) Clune.
Survivors of his immediate family include his wife of 47 years, Margaret 'Peg' (Groff) Clune; three children, Tom (Carlee) Clune of Sugarcreek Township, Kathy (Mark) Watercutter of St. Henry and Karla (Travis) Pottkotter of Celina; seven grandchildren, Sam Clune, AJ, Ava & Emme Watercutter, Reese, Rhen & Ramsey Pottkotter; siblings and in-laws, Linus (Sandy) Clune of St. Henry, Paul (Janet) Clune of New Weston, Carol Beckman (Matt Schwieterman) of Coldwater, Donald Clune of Ft. Loramie, David (Janice) Clune of Ocala, Florida, Ronald (Kay) Groff, John (Jane) Groff, Judy Strobel, Robert Groff all of North Star, Elaine (Jerry) Singer of New Weston, Roger (Sandy) Groff of Sharpsburg and Fred (Linda) Groff of Versailles.
He is also preceded in death by parents-in-law Paul (Yvette) Groff; siblings and in-laws, Dolores (Lester) Hartings, Alice Clune, Luther Strobel and Jane Groff.
Urban Attended St. Henry Schools and at an early age took over the family farm. He also worked 38 years at the former New Idea plant in Coldwater before retiring from Rindler Truss in Burkettsville. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, and the Progressive Sportsman Club in Sharpsburg. He served in the Ohio National Guard, was a longtime season ticket holder to St. Henry High School football and basketball games. He enjoyed following sports especially the Reds, Bengals & Buckeyes. He was superstitious to the end always wanting a pizza on Bengal gamedays. Some of his favorite times were laughing and storytelling in the farmyard while sharing a sandwich and drink with nephews, neighbors and family following a hard day of baling and in his later years walking the farm with his dog.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday April 27, 2022 at St. Henry Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday April 26 and from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
