Donald Warnecke
Donald A. Warnecke, 81, formerly of Ottoville, OH died 9:02 p.m. Wednesday July 13, 2022 at his residence in New Bremen, OH.
He was born August 18, 1940 in Allen Co., OH to Edward and Leona (Gable) Warnecke. On September 10, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville, he married Margaret Ann Trenkamp, who survives.
Also survived by: daughter Valarie (Tom) Largent of New Bremen, OH; son (Brian (Beth) Warnecke of New Bremen, OH; 6 grandchildren: Michael Largent, Nicholas Largent, Abigail Largent, Emma Largent, Maryssa Warnecke, Tyler Warnecke; brother Bro. Dominic Warnecke, OSB of St Meinrad's Seminary in St. Meinrad, IN.
Preceded in death by: parents Edward and Leona Warnecke; sister Mary Beatrice Dickman; brother Richard Warnecke; brother Herbert Warnecke; brother Michael Warnecke.
A proud American, he served his country in the United States Army as a communications specialist in Germany. He retired from the Tank Plant (General Dynamics) in Lima, OH where he worked as a machinist and inspector. He later worked at Miller's Precision Industries and Lock Sixteen Catering. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholiuc Church in Ottoville and recently, Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. He also belonged to the Eagles Lodge and Knights of Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 21, 2022 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys. Please note that the services will be livestreamed via the church's website: www.holyroasrychurch.us.
Graveside services, with full military funeral honors, will take place at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ottoville.
Visitation 2 - 4 and 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.
