Janie Orick
Janie L. Orick, 76, of St. Marys, OH died 9:50 p.m. Monday February 6, 2023 at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born December 25, 1946 in Athens Co., OH to Ronald and Freda (Stars) Nicholson. On October 14, 1967 in Jellico, TN she married Verlin Orick, Sr., who preceded her in death March 20, 2015.
Survivors include: daughter Beverly (Daniel) Fink of Wapakoneta, OH; son Verlin (Amanda) Orick, Jr. of Celina, OH; 5 grandchildren: Victoria (Jesse Berg) Kohli, Jonathan Putman, James Neumeier, Cassie Orick, Wylie Orick; 8 great-grandchildren: Dustin Kohli Jr., Derek Kohli, Derin Kohli, Ryleigh Berg, Raelynn Berg, Koby Orick, Ava Neumeier, Emmett Neumeier; sister Faye Lewis of Edgerton, OH; sister Sharon (John) Younger of Somerset, OH; sister Nancy Nicholson of St. Marys, OH.
Preceded in death by: parents Ronald and Freda Nicholson; husband Verlin Orick, Sr.; sister Linda Thacker; sister Carolyn Davidson; sister Evelyn Nicholson; brother John (Martha) Nicholson.
She was a graduate of McArthur, OH High School (Class of 1966). For many years, she worked as a crossing guard for the St. Marys City Schools. Prior to that, she was employed by the Fisher Cheese Co. in Wapakoneta, OH. Her favorite pastimes included thrift-shopping and collecting purses. More than anything else, she enjoyed spending time aggravating her family members.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday February 11, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Pastor Elmer Davis will officiate the services.
Visitation 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
