Allan Finke
Allan Lee Finke, 76, of Parrish, FL (formerly of St. Marys, OH) died Monday May 1. 2023 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL.
He was born February 21, 1947 in Celina, OH to John C. and Bettie (Ice) Finke.
On August 10, 1968 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, OH he married Linda L. Harner, who survives.
Also survived by: daughter Julie Holubetz of Parrish, FL; Daughter Marci Rowe of Parrish, FL; Son John (Brandy) Finke of Birmingham, AL; 7 grandchildren: Emily, Garrett and Ethan Holubetz; Katelyn, Joshua and Hannah Rowe; Taylor Finke; Sister Susan (Terry dec'd)Monroe of St. Marys, OH; Mother-in-law Betty J. Harner of St. Marys, OH; Sister-in-law Susan (Jack) Trentman of North Carolina; Brother-in-law Larry (Dee) Harner of Tennessee; Brother-in-law Daniel Harner of St. Marys, OH; and Several nieces and nephews
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1965).
He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. While in the military, he was honored to serve as Crew Chief assigned to Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), which served the President of the United States.
Allan retired from Florida Power & Light Co. as Watch Engineer. He then joined the Tennessee Valley Authority in the Chattanooga, TN area, retiring as a Supervisor in 2007.
He and his wife, Linda, remained in Tennessee until 2020, when they moved to Parrish, FL to be closer to children and grandchildren.
His favorite pastimes included woodworking, gardening, coaching sports and was an excellent marksman.
He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father and grandfather. Spending time with his family was the most important thing in his world, whether it be taking walks on the beach at sunset with Linda, group outings to amusement parks, attending grandkids' activities, or the annual 4th of July get-together. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family. "To know Allan, was to love Allan!"
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 12, 2023 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. Burial, with full military funeral honors, will follow at the Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street) in St. Marys.
