* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Paul Axe
Paul Axe, 94, of St. Marys, died 7:05 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his son's residence in New Bremen.
He was born November 24, 1928, in St. Marys, the son of Bernard and Bertha (Anderson) Axe. He married Bernice "Bea" Weghorst on August 26, 1950, and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2020.
He is survived by his sons: Matthew (Linda) Axe of New Bremen, Daniel Axe of St. Marys. He is survived by his grandchildren: Brian (Katie) Axe; Leslie (Ben) Petrozello; Brett (Sheila) Axe; Jon (Lisa) Axe; Jessica (David) Swisher; Luke Axe; Stephen Axe; Dalton Axe. He is survived by his great-grandchildren: Andy, Charlie and Ellie Axe; Chiara Petrozello; Jack and Bradley Swisher; Scarlett Axe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by a son, Mark Axe. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Axe and John "Jack" Axe.
Paul was a 1947 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired from Goodyear St. Marys as a supervisor after 43 years of service. He had coached Little League baseball for many years, and he enjoyed walking his dog. He and Jack Lawler lined the football field for the St. Marys Roughriders team for numerous years. Paul loved his wife, Bea, very much, and his favorite thing was "being with Bea". He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, and the Knights of Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, Father Prasthanth Bandanaham, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:45-10:45 A.M. on Thursday at the church, where memorial gifts may be given to the Friends of Holy Rosary School.
