Emotions run high during library meeting

CELINA - Less than 24 hours after the Mercer County District Library's tax levy was renewed with 60% of the vote, over 30 people packed the library's monthly board meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
The library has been engulfed in controversy regarding alleged sexual themes in several books housed in the kids' and teen section.    On Oct. 26, county commissioners appointed chief complainant Andrea Strable, 39, of Celina to replace 40-year library board member Jan Morrison. [More]

CELINA - Two Celina fishermen were credited with saving the life of a 19-year-old Minster woman who had driven her car into a retention pond behind Romer's Catering in Celina on Wednesday afternoon.
Sometime after 4 p.m., Andrea Bogan of Minster, for unknown reasons, swerved from the drive running between Romer's Catering and condominiums, ramped over rocks and crashed into the pond, according to Celina Police Chief Tom Wale. [More]

Health district loses candidates over pay
CELINA - The Mercer County Health District is still seeking a clerical specialist as several would-be candidates have declined the position for other employers that offer higher pay.
MINSTER - Village councilors approved hiring Tricia LeDoux as the new village fiscal officer during this week's regular meeting.
LeDoux will fill the vacancy created by Brittany Hemmelgarn who left in September to take a position with Mercer Health.
The Celina Bulldogs aren't ready to put away the football pads just yet.
After rallying from down 14 points at halftime to beat Trotwood-Madison 41-35 last Friday night, the Bulldogs advance to the regional semifinals for the first time since 1998.
