COLDWATER - School board members seek to more than triple the income tax rate to 1.75% to help offset deficit spending that has afflicted the district the last few years.
Board members at Tuesday night's special meeting signed off on a resolution requesting certification of a levy that would replace the existing 0.5% traditional income tax with a 1.75% earned income tax. [More]

CELINA - The head of curriculum for Victorum Learning Center faces no jail time after pleading guilty on Tuesday to an amended misdemeanor charge of attempted obstruction of official business in Celina Municipal Court.
Loren Nelson, 43, of Dayton was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspended on condition he have no like or similar convictions for two years and have no contact with victims. He was also fined $250 and court costs. [More]
