Jessie Monfort
Jessie L. Monfort, 70, of St. Marys, died 11:06 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024, at St Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born July 31, 1953, in Lima, the daughter of Walter and Jessie (Gaull) Burd. She married Eugene "Skip" Monfort, Jr. on July 17, 1971, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1986.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Beth) Burd of St. Marys; Kenneth Burd of Spencerville; Mark (Rikki Howe) Monfort of St. Marys; and Julie (Mike) Thomas of St. Marys. She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; by her siblings: Helen Carlson of Wapakoneta; Edith Doenges of Colon, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Eugene "Skip" Monfort, Jr.; by her sister, Darlene Klett; her brother, Donald Smart; her brother-in-law, Dale Carlson; daughter-in-law, Shirley Burd; grandson Michael Burd; her longtime partner, Robert Storer.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She loved her "shows", as she avidly watched "Days of Our Lives", "As The World Turns", "Young and the Restless" and many others. She loved watching local bands and had a love for Elvis that was undeniable. But, most of all, she loved her family. She was the first to arrive at any occasion so she didn't miss out on any of the fun. Her heart was so big she extended her "family" by choosing to care for others for over 32 years as a STNA.
Jessie's family wishes to thank the ICU nurses at SRMC, Trevor and Kate for treating her the way she had treated so many others-with so much love, kindness, tenderness and support.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, Pastor Larry McCollum, officiant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery near Mendon.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, and from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys.
