* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Melvin Wendel
Melvin "Mel" A. Wendel, age 82, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1942, in Fort Recovery, to the late Frank and Elnora (Homan) Wendel.
In addition to his parents, Mel was preceded in death by his siblings, Novella (Albert) Lauber, Imelda "Millie" (Jerome) Wilker, Ermin (Regina) Wendel, Thelma (Irvin) Schindler, Elmer (Joan) Wendel, Werner (Pat) Wendel, and Alvin Wendel.
Mel is survived by his sister-in-law, Martha Wendel of Fort Recovery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mel retired from Fort Recovery Lumber Company. He was a volunteer fireman for the Southwest Mercer Fire Department for many years, and was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fort Recovery.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Guests may visit with his family on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
