Debra Maurer
Debra Ann (Imwalle) Maurer, age 71, of S. Walnut Street, New Bremen, passed away peacefully of natural causes Saturday morning, April 5, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio. She was born October 31, 1953, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Herbert & Irene (Gaier) Imwalle. Deb's step mother, Doris Jean Brandewie Imwalle also preceded her in death.
On March 4, 1978, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Newport, Deb married Jack A. Maurer who survives. Also surviving are four children: Eric & Aimee Maurer of Troy, Anthony & Riki Maurer of Liberty Township, Elizabeth & Paul Gardner of Tipp City and Trisha & Gregory Luthman of Covington; 10 grandchildren: Hannah, Riley and Ethan Maurer, Ava, Nolan and Elise Maurer, Gibson and Louise Gardner and Reid & Levi Luthman; 12 siblings from the Imwalle and Brandewie families: Linda Meyer of New Bremen, Connie & Walter Wright of Houston, Mike & Mary Kara Imwalle of Mobile, Alabama, Steve & Kris Imwalle of New Bremen, Kathy & Jeff Pape of New Bremen, Dave & Eileen Imwalle of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shelley & Mark Middendorf of Fort Loramie, Joe Imwalle of Fort Loramie, Bill & Joyce Brandewie of Versailles, Dan Brandewie & Barbara Bush of Maryland, Shirley & Ron Finkenbine of Anna and Mark & Anita Brandewie of Fort Loramie; brothers & sisters-in-law: Toshi Wilson of Anna, Beth Bohman Brandewie of Fort Loramie, Don & Patricia Maurer of Findlay, Kathy & Dale Gaier of McCartyville, Rick & Jane Maurer of Botkins, Therese & Richard Borgerding of Piqua, Patty & Rick Luttmer of Fort Loramie, Becky & Jim Suhr of Springboro, Paul T. Maurer of Piqua and Laura & Tom Poeppelman of McCartyville along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Daniel Imwalle, Steve Brandewie, Eric Brandewie and a brother-in-law, William Meyer.
Deb was a 1972 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. In 2021, she retired from Wilson Health Hospital in Sidney, where she had been a laboratory clerk for 48 years. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in New Bremen. Deb was dedicated to her husband and family. She especially loved interacting with her grandchildren and was always ready to help out anyone that needed it.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Stephen Mondiek presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Family and friends may call Wednesday, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Memorials may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Miami County or charities of choice. Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
