Dorothy Prueter
Dorothy B. Prueter, 101, of New Knoxville, Ohio, died 12:23 P.M. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Elmwood of New Bremen Nursing Center.
She was born October 15, 1923, in New Knoxville, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Klute) Schrolucke.
She married James F. Prueter on June 29, 1946, at the First Church of New Knoxville; he preceded her in death on April 29, 2005.
She is survived by her son Robert (Barbara) Prueter of New Knoxville; her daughter, Ann (Tom) Leffel of New Knoxville; by her three grandchildren: Mark Prueter of New Knoxville; Jack (Jami) Leffel of Wapakoneta; Julie (Mike) Reams of Wapakoneta; by her grandchildren: Jacklyn Leffel; Caroline Leffel; Rebecca Leffel; Andrew Leffel; Piper Reams; Bo Reams.
She is survived by her sisters: Grace Young ofNew Bremen; Mary Schmehl of Saint Marys; Janice Schumacher of New Knoxville; sisters-in-law Gwen Schrolucke of Brookville, Ohio; Nancy (Wayne) Bambauer of New Knoxville; by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Prueter; her siblings: Aaron (Kathy) Schrolucke and Charles (Marie) Schrolucke; by her sisters-in-law: Naomi (Donald) Howe; Irma (Ralph) Hoelscher; her brothers-in-law, Earl (Ruth) Prueter; Paul (Dorothy) Prueter; Don (Sylvia) Prueter; Elwood (Jean) Prueter; James Young; Carl "Bill" Schmehl; Paul Schumacher.
Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She had worked at the former Hoge Brush Company and on the family dairy farm with her husband, Jim.
She was a lifelong member of the First Church of New Knoxville, and was a member of American Legion Post 444 Auxiliary and the New Knoxville Historical Society. She was an avid fan of New Knoxville Ranger sports and enjoyed attending her grandchildren' s activities. She was a big fan of the OSU Buckeyes.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Wednesday in the Heritage Room of the Church, where memorial gifts may be given to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church.
Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring Street, New Knoxville, is entrusted with Dorothy's funeral arrangements.
