Nancy Hemmelgarn
Nancy Marie Hemmelgarn, age 75 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home with her family at her bedside. She was born the daughter of the late Herman H. and Merilda O. (Bergman) Hoying on July 17, 1950 in St. Henry, Ohio. On November 6, 1971, she married Jerry Hemmelgarn, who survives living at their residence in Celina.
She is also survived by her three loving children: Hollie (Tim) Haley of Canonsburg, PA, Tim (Desiree) Hemmelgarn of Novato, CA, Brad (Sasha) Hemmelgarn of Celina. She leaves behind five grandchildren she cherished; Aiden Haley, Abigail Haley, Troy Hemmelgarn, Ali Hemmelgarn and Henry Hemmelgarn. Her siblings; Judy Stemley of St. Henry, Carl and Bernice Hoying of Belle Center, Millie and Marv Stammen of Greenville, Vern and Sue Hoying of St. Henry, Karen and Charlie Gels of St. Henry, Mary Jane and John Post of St. Henry, Bonnie and Jack Knapschaefer of Coldwater, Alice and Dave Homan of Coldwater, Mike Kanney of Celina, Dan and Brenda Hoying of St. Henry, Lorraine and Kent Paxson of Minster, Susan Hoying of Centerville and Gary and Annette Hoying of Coldwater.
In addition to her parent's, she was preceded in death by her sisters Eileen Hoying and Linda Kanney, as well as brother-in-law Neil Stemley.
Nancy was a 1968 graduate of the St. Henry High School. She was formerly employed at the Celina Insurance Group and worked at the Times Bulletin Newspaper in Van Wert. She retired from the Immaculate Conception School Cafeteria.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Family was everything to Nancy, and she took special pride and enjoyment in her grandchildren and their achievements by attending all their activities from athletics to art shows.
Nancy loved her outside flowers as was evident by the colorful display that she planted and tended to through the Spring and Fall. She appreciated the comments of those who walked by and would sometimes stop to chat for a while.
Friends were cherished and the Friday evening dinners along with unscheduled patio and porch parties were a great place to solve both local and world problems.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday Oct. 2, 2025, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Prashanth Bandanadham officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina. A visitation celebrating Nancy's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 1, 2025 and from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
