Berdell Miller
Berdell "Berd" Marie Miller, 98, of Mendon, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Otterbein Senior Living in St. Marys.
Berdell was born on January 18, 1927 to James and Edna (Katterheinch) Wierwille near New Knoxville, OH.
She grew up in Spencerville and graduated from Spencerville High School in 1945. On January 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Max Miller and they enjoyed 52 ½ years together before his passing on August 29, 1998.
Berdell was a "Farm wife" who helped with all aspects of the farm. Many years ago, she worked at Huffy Manufacturing and also cleaned & painted homes.
Berdell loved sewing, making quilts, embroidery, gardening, flowers, reading novels, traveling, and playing Bingo and Domino's with her friends,(Barb, Marilyn, & Marcia). She was a wonderful cook, baker of pies, and enjoyed making noodles with the church ladies. She attended Hamilton Bethel Church until it's closing, then Ross Brethren and the Mendon United Methodist Church. Berdell was loved by many and was blessed to live in her own home until 6 weeks ago at the age of 98 ½.
Berdell is survived by her children, Charlie (Ginny) Miller and Tom (Marcia) Miller both of Mendon; son-in-law, Bob (Charlene) Wilkins of Mendon; four grandchildren, Andrea Hull (Brian), Misty (Travis) Piper, Chasidy (Cody) Bell and Whitney (Bart) Piper; nine great grandchildren, Austin & Randall Hull, Dergan & Teigan Piper, Kobe, Kinley & Kali Piper, and Katelynne, Wyatt & Easton Bell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; daughter, Peg Wilkins; and six brothers, Clarence, Kelsey, Jim, Bob, Roger and Leland.
There will be a visitation from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Her funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. with an hour of visitation before on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Don Clinger officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Mendon Cemetery. Memories may be shared and viewed by visiting www.baylifffuneral.com. Thomas E. In memory of Berdell, preferred memorials may be given to the Mendon Union Fire Department. The family would like to thank Otterbien Nursing Home and Grand Lake Hospice for the excellent love and care given to Berdell.
