Belva Gross
Belva June Gross, 94, of Sidney, passed away at 1:35 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Coldwater Hospital. She was born on May 17, 1932, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Harry and Eva (Waltz) Haines. On July 29, 1950, Belva married John Jacob Gross, who preceded her in death in 2013 after 63 years of marriage.
Belva is survived by her two daughters, Candace (Dick) Ford of Celina and Patricia Meyer of Sidney; six grandchildren, Doug Weitzel, Dustin (Becky) Weitzel, Daniel (Brandy) Weitzel, David (Jen) Weitzel, Mary Ann (Derek) Wade, and Elizabeth (Mike) Blatnik; ten great-grandchildren, Katie (Jordan) Rodriguez, Emily, Carson and Waylen Weitzel, Graham, Emmitt, Eli, Will and Vivienne Weitzel, and Evelyn Wade; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jack and Mabel Rodriguez.
Belva was preceded in death by her six sisters-in-law, Luella Wittenbrink, Erma Long, Clara Shroyer, Opal Markley, Edna O'Quinn, and Stella Kohler, as well as her brother-in-law, Roy Gross.
Belva enjoyed reading James Patterson mystery novels and going on morning walks with her friend Anita Heinfeld. She enjoyed camping with her family and friends at Lake Loramie. Belva loved visiting Daytona Beach in Florida, where she enjoyed laying in the sun. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them at their sporting events. One of her favorite things was getting the family together so she could see all the kids. The family would like to express their appreciation to Truswell Living at Miller Place, where Belva was able to enjoy herself.
A funeral service will take place at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home at 1 P.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The service will be officiated by Chaplain Eric Muhlenkamp. A viewing will take place on Thursday from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Belva will be laid to rest after the service at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
