The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

In this handout photo released by the Russian Federal Road Transport Agency (Rosavtodor), workers repair the side of damaged spans of the road section of the Crimean Bridge connecting Russian mainland and Crimean peninsula over the Kerch Strait during restoration works, not far from Kerch, Crimea on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022. Russia says it has restored all the spans of the bridge from the mainland to Crimea following an explosion in early October that officials say was a Ukrainian attack. The 17-kilometer (10.5-mile) bridge was opened in 2018, four years after Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine. (Rosavtodor Press Service via AP)
