The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

Dogs frolic near a 49-foot replica of a Statue of Liberty in a field that years ago housed the "Liberty Motocross" circuit, in General Rodriguez, Argentina, Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. The current owner of the property says, "I am used to seeing it, it is already part of the landscape. I have had problems; people have passed shouting 'shitty yankee, I'm going to kill you'. One told me that he was going to come with a couple of Molotov cocktails and that he was going to set me on fire." (AP Photo/Rodrigo Abd)
