The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

Tumbleweeds appear in front of a home in South Jordan, Utah, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The suburb of Salt Lake City was inundated with tumbleweeds after a weekend storm brought stiff winds to the area. The gnarled icon of the Old West rolled in over the weekend and kept rolling until blanketing some homes and streets in suburban Salt Lake City. (AP Photo/Brady McCombs)
