Eldon Haberkamp
Eldon B. Haberkamp, 80, 08244 Airport Road, New Knoxville, died at 5:23 p.m. Oct. 30, 2006, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in New Knoxville, to Benjamin and Bertha Wierwille Haberkamp. On June 20, 1948, he married Lois Virginia Zwiebel, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Rick (Monica), Republic of Chad, Central Africa, Dean (Rebecca), Dublin, and Larry, New Knoxville; a daughter, Shirley (Paul) Holland, Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Marie, New Knoxville; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are a son, Ted; a daughter, Barbara; and a brother, Adrian.
He was a farmer and co-owner of Airport Manufacturing Co., New Knoxville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines and a 1944 graduate of New Knoxville High School. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon, elder and superintendent of Sunday school; American Legion Post 444, New Knoxville; and Gideons International.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, near New Knoxville.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church heritage room.
