Myron McBride
Myron C. McBride, 77, 2190 S. 200 W., Portland, died June 6, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Sturgis, Mich., to Stephen C. and Gladys Agnes Myron McBride. On Sept. 9, 1950, he married Margaret Rose Miller, who survives.
Surviving are five sons, Doug (Nancy), Ossian, Ind., Greg (Gina), Denver, Colo., Stephen D., Portland, Ind., Brent (Terry), McCordsville, Ind., and Michael T. (Demetria), Portland; ten grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
He was a brick and refactory mason where he did masonry work throughout Jay County, the United States and Halfi, Israel. A U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Portland, and Green Valley United Methodist Church, Arizona, where he was involved in various organizations. He was a 50-year member of the Brick Layers Union Local 4 in Kentucky and Indiana. He was a member of Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons 87, American Legion Post 211, the Evening Optimist Club and Disabled American Veterans, all of Portland. He was a member Scottish Rite Valley and Mizpah Temple Shrine, of Fort Wayne. He was involved in Boy Scouts of America where he was a Troop 206 leader.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Portland Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Portland, the Rev. Roger Domingo officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant. Graveside rites will be performed by the American Legion Post 211.
Calling is 11a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a memorial service will be performed at 5 p.m.
