William Eilerman
William Eilerman, 82, of St. Charles Center, Carthagena, died at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 14, 2007, in the infirmary of St. Charles Center. Death was due to complications following heart surgery.
He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in North Star, to Bernard and Elizabeth Kaiser Eilerman.
Surviving are a brother, Alfred (Joan), North Star; and a sister, Eleanor Liette, Culver, Ind.
Deceased are four brothers, Joseph, Bernard, Paul and Herbert; and an infant sister, Mary.
He entered the Precious Blood Society in 1939 and was ordained a Catholic priest May 24, 1951. He obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting at St. Joseph's College, in Rensselaer, Ind. and Saint Louis University. From 1954-1970 he was assigned to Saint Joseph's College where he served as an accounting instructor, professor and business office administrator. In 1970, he was transferred to St. Joseph's College, East Chicago, Ind., where he served as an accounting professor and treasurer at the college. In 1975, he was appointed rector of St. Charles Center, where he served for 10 years. He also served two terms on the executive committee and later on the senate at the center. In 1988, he was named local director of St. Charles Center, and later served as administrator pro-tem of St. Joseph and St. Peter parishes in rural Fort Recovery. In 2000, he was named administrator pro-tem of St. Joseph, Wapakoneta, and later at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, Bellevue. He also served as board member and on the finance committee at St. Joseph College until his retirement at the center in 2006.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the center, the Rev. Angelo Anthony officiating. Burial is at the community cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the center. A wake service is at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
