Walter Arps
Walter A. Arps, 90, of Napoleon, died Dec. 19, 2007, at Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
He was born July 21, 1917, in Hamler, to Henry F. and Emma Rohrs Arps. On June 1, 1940, he married Hertha Panning, who died in 1997. On Aug. 14, 1999, he married Julia Rabe Meyer, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Larry, New Haven, Ind., and Kenneth (Pam), Celina; two daughters, Lois (Steve) Pifer, Savannah, Ga., and Kathy (Bart) Rittenhouse, Defiance; a stepson, Lavern (Mary) Meyer, Liberty Center; 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is an infant daughter, Nancy Jean; a stepdaughter, Joyce Pullen; two brothers, Arnold and Ferd; four sisters, Edna, Martha Knapp, Margaret Wendt and Helen Overly; and a grandson.
He was a farmer. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Napoleon, and a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona, where he served as a deacon, elder and on the cemetery committee.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. James Castello officiating. Burial is at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
