Richard Berlanga
Celina native Richard R. "Bummer or Jose" Berlanga, 51, 406 W. Skinner St., Ohio City, died Jan. 18, 2008, in Ohio City. He was found dead on Sunday at the scene of a single-vehicle accident near Ball and Skinner roads in Ohio City.
He was born Aug. 26, 1956, in Celina to Francisco S. and Cristofora Garcia Berlanga, who are deceased.
Survivors are four brothers, Frank Jr., Shepherdsville, Ky., Santos, Rockford, Joe (Janet), Pontiac, Mich., and Lupe, Ohio City; and six sisters, Rosa (Juan) Palomina, Defiance, Josephine (Robert) Gonzales, Fort Pierce, Fla., Adelina Berlanga, Janie Rose and Florie Bollenbacher, all of Rockford, and Olivia (Richard) Ortiz, Decatur, Ind.
Deceased are two brothers, Juan and Roy.
He worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. A 1975 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Rockford, and the Isaac Van Wert Post of the American Legion.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Randy Bevington officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
