Wilma Shelby
Wilma "Willie" M. Shelby, 86, formerly of New Bremen, and most recently of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 3 a.m. Feb. 25, 2009, at Otterbein.
She was born June 14, 1922, near St. Marys, to Otah E. and Margaret Koenig Wright. On April 25, 1946, she married Thomas Shelby, who died Nov. 6, 1985.
Survivors include a son Michael (Rosie), St. Marys; two daughters Theresa (Robert) Garner, Tucson, Ariz., and Peg (Joe) Eilerman, New Bremen; a sister, Betty Mears, St. Marys; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Etta Skinner and Margaret Parnell; and two brothers Donald and George Wright.
She was a bookkeeper and officer with the Thomas Shelby and Company, St. Marys, a business she and her husband started. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer, New Bremen, and was a 1940 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30-10:10 a.m. Saturday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, at which time Rosary will be prayed at the church.
