Francis Hinchey
Francis "Frank" G. Hinchey, 81, of Minster, died March 27, 2009, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Thomas and Mabel Hinchey. On Aug. 22, 1991, he married Elizabeth Steinemann Busse, who survives.
Also surviving are six children, Dr. Steven (Deborah) Hinchey, Glastonbury, Conn., Terrence (Nancy) Hinchey, Hebron, Conn., Kevin Hinchey, Glastonbury, Patricia (Donald) Brancard, Hebron, Thomas (Danette) Hinchey, Phoenix, Ariz., and Sean (Lana) Hinchey, Los Angeles, Calif.; three stepchildren, Kathryn (Frank) Boerger, Fort Loramie, Andrew (Jennifer) Busse, Russia, and Lynn (Nicholas) Turner, Fort Loramie; 11 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and nine stepgrandchildren.
He graduated from St. Johns Prep in Brooklyn in 1943, attended the Plytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, and was a member of the Sigma XI fraternity. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in 1946 and 1947. He worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut, where he retired in 1983 as quality control manager for assembly and test. He also was an officer, actor and director for the Glastonbury Players, a theater group. He was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Minster, and Minster's Book Club.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday and 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
