George Hoenie
George R. Hoenie, 86, 8320 Hoenie Road, Celina, died at 9:27 a.m. April 16, 2009, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born April 3, 1923, in Mercer County, to Wilmer and Minnie Krogman Hoenie. On Aug. 26, 1950, he married Norma L. Knous, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Dwayne (Ruth) Hoenie, Celina, Mark (Karen) Hoenie, Rockford, and Tom (Beth) Hoenie, Celina; four daughters, Joann (Kim) Plattner, Shirley (Lyle) Kittle, and Linda (Steve) Siebert, all of Celina, and Sue (Kent) Merkle, Ohio City; a sister, Luella Siebert, Celina; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Wayne Hoenie; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Siebert.
He retired from farming and was a truck driver for Standard Oil. He graduated in 1941 from Celina High School. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Celina. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
Services were today at the church, the Rev. Paul Baglien officiated. Burial was at Buck Cemetery, Celina.
