David Schneider
David O. Schneider, 83, 1245 S. Knoxville Ave., St. Marys, died at 7:15 p.m. April 22, 2009, at the Golden Living Center-Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
He was born Nov. 21, 1925, in St. Marys, to David and Clara Schmidt Schneider. On May 1, 1949, he married LaDonna Katterheinrich, who is deceased. In 1986, he married Mary Darnell, who died in 2006.
Surviving are a daughter, Kristine (Earl) Norcross, Dublin; a stepdaughter, Denise Darnell, St. Marys; a stepson, Ray Darnell, Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Rachelle (Bob) Darnell-Kinahan, Denver; two stepgrandchildren and a stepgreat-grandson.
He retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, St. Marys, in 1987 after 44 years of service. He was a 1943 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a platoon sergeant and paratrooper with the 503rd Regiment during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge and the American Legion, all in St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ed Bray officiating. Military burial rites are at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling is 9-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
