Scattered snow showers occurring across the region will gradually diminish early this morning. While any accumulation will be less than an inch, this will create slick roadways with a quick coating of snow. Not all roads will be affected, but motorists should be aware that driving conditions may change quickly along their route, going from dry to slick. If traveling this morning, use extra caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination.
Authorities continue to investigate a boating accident late Saturday night on Grand Lake that killed a 33-year-old Celina man and caused minor injuries to two others.
Shane Frey was pronounced dead at 6 a.m. Sunday at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following the accident at 11:45 p.m. Saturday. After his boat crashed into another boat, his body was ejected and found about 30 minutes later floating face down in the water. [More]
MINSTER - Before the running finals began at the Division III district track meet in Minster on Saturday, two final field events were contested.
These events set the tone for the day, as the New Bremen boys finished first and second in the high jump while the Minster girls did the same in the pole vault. Both teams went on from there to capture their respective team district titles. [More]
Sgt. 1st Class Brian Naseman, a former New Bremen resident and father of two sons, died Friday of injuries received in a noncombat-related incident in Iraq, where he was serving with the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
