Joan McVay
Joan Menchhofer McVay, 73, of Aurora, died June 14, 2009, at home.
She was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Celina to Carl and Margaret Menchhofer.
On June 27, 1959, she married Demas L. McVay Jr., who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Susan (Timothy) Vanderver, Potomac, Md., and Ellen (Doug) Spangler, New Albany; two granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Lyle and Ronnie Menchhofer.
She began her business career as a buyer at the Joseph Horne Co., Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1959. After raising their daughters, she joined her husband as a manufacturers' representative selling gifts and decorative accessories to the wholesale gift trade throughout Ohio. A resident of Aurora since 1968, she was active in the community, including her church and the historical society. She was a graduate of Celina High School in 1954 and the Ohio State University in 1958, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
Memorial service will be held at the Church in Aurora at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with a reception following in the church hall.
