MONTEZUMA - Results of a Franklin Township referendum vote on Tuesday were sealed and unreported due to a last minute court appeal.
Some residents last year petitioned to get a referendum on the ballot that allowed them to vote on whether zoning changes approved by Franklin Township Trustees on Nov. 18 should stand. The changes allowed Rick Uppenkamp, of Mercer Development LP, to put duplexes and recreational vehicles on his land between Behm Road and Big Chickasaw Creek. [More]

MONTEZUMA - A 95-year-old Montezuma man faces a charge of inducing panic after he allegedly threatened to get a gun and return to the Franklin school polling location Tuesday afternoon.
James H. Dalton, 5289 Windy Point Road, is scheduled to appear in Celina Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Friday. The first-degree misdemeanor carries a possible sentence of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine upon conviction. [More]

CELINA - For six innings, Darin Waterman had Elida right where he wanted them.
Then in the seventh, the players whom the Celina senior had struck out with ease earlier got their revenge.
Elida scored two runs in the top of the seventh as Elida pitcher Ronny Milam stymied the Celina bats. Elida won the battle of Bulldogs 2-0 at Montgomery Field on Tuesday afternoon. [More]

All levies for schools, fire and ambulance service and village operations passed by local voters at the primary election Tuesday, according to unofficial results.
Federal funds to pay for restoration of Coldwater Post Office art
COLDWATER - The historic mural at the Coldwater Post Office is getting a facelift.
The artwork, painted by Joep Nicolas in 1942, was removed Tuesday and taken to Chicago to be cleaned and restored. It is scheduled to return Sept. 15.
CELINA - County officials are hoping to sell and remove the former sheriff's office building from its current location across from the courthouse.
