L. Kathleen Bricker, 87, St. Marys, and formerly of Houston, Texas, died at 8:06 a.m. June 17, 2010, at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys.

She was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Nashville, Ark., to Fonnie and Molly Norman Elder. On Sept. 8, 1942, she married James E. Bricker, who died Dec. 10, 1993.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet (Joseph) Prukop, Alexandria, Va., Kay (Joseph) Kuebler, St. Marys; two sisters, Irene Keesler, Gilbert, Ariz., and Betty (Eugene) McRorie, Matthews, N.C.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Deceased is a sister, Gertrude Elliot, and a grandchild, Kenneth Prukop.

She was a 1940 graduate of Mt. St. Michael's Catholic Convent in Dallas, Texas. She was a hairdresser and worked at the Plaza Salon of Beauty in Houston, Texas. She also worked as a data processor at the J.E. Bricker Billing Service. She was a member of the St. Marys Art Association and had also been an art instructor and taught china painting. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys and its Legion of Mary. She was also a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Houston, and was one of the parish's founding members.

Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church in St. Marys, the Rev. Pat Slonaker officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, later in the week.

Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys.
