Jane Simmonds
Jane Miller Simmonds, 91, Celina, died at 9:40 p.m. Oct. 17, 2010, at Briarwood Manor in Coldwater.
She was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Point Pleasant, W. Va., to John G. and Nora Neville Miller. On April 27, 1957, she married Harold F. Simmonds, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Karla J. Johnston, Chesterfield, Mo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Violet Machir; and two brothers, Bernard Somerville and William Fadley.
She graduated from Point Pleasant High School in West Virginia and graduated with an Executive Secretarial Degree from Bliss College in Columbus, where she taught business courses. She worked for the U.S. Employment Service and was a chauffeur for the West Virginia defense plant during World War II. She also was a charter member and president of the Dublin's Women's Club and a president of the Celina Welcome Wagon. She also helped to organize the Celina Canasta Club in 1989. She was a charter member and first president of the Optimist Club of Celina.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Celina, the Rev. Dave Rushton officiating.
Calling is 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina is handling the arrangements.
