Rev. John Bolan
Rev. John Bolan, CPPS, 83, died Oct. 22, 2010, at Holy Family Hospice in Parma.
He was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Union, N.J., to Francis and Margaret Crowe Bolan.
Surviving is a sister, Catherine (Robert) Lanes, Alachua, Fla.
He entered the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1941 and was ordained a priest June 4, 1953. He served as pastor at churches in Virginia, Indiana and Ohio, including St. John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein in 1977. He served as a hospital chaplain at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton in 1965, at Timken Mercy Hospital in Canton, Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland and Veterans' Administration Hospital in Cleveland, where he served from 1987 until his retirement. He was a former member of the National Ski Patrol.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Center in Carthagena, the Rev. Larry Hemmelgarn officiating. Burial is at the community cemetery.
Calling is 4 p.m. Thursday at the center, with a wake service at 7 p.m.
There also will be a service at St. Vincent de Paul in Cleveland on Thursday morning.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for the Neelon children at Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union in Cleveland.
